MX lookup
Verify that mail routing points at the servers you expect after a provider change or DNS edit.
How it measures
- Identical to the DNS lookup tool, fixed to the MX type.
- Lower priority numbers are preferred by sending servers.
Limits
- Does not test SMTP connectivity or authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) beyond the raw records.
- Cached answers may lag behind a recent change.
Troubleshooting
- No MX records
- Mail falls back to the domain's A/AAAA record. Most providers require explicit MX records.
