Notifications and routing

Channels, rules, deduplication, quiet hours, rate limits and escalation.

Updated

Channels

Email (every plan), Slack, Discord, Telegram and signed webhooks (Starter and above). Secrets are encrypted and never displayed again. Email addresses that are not your own must confirm a link.

Rules

A rule routes events (incident opened, incident resolved, certificate expiring) from all monitors, selected monitors or tagged monitors to one channel. Agency and Scale plans can delay a rule (escalation) and send only if the incident is still unacknowledged.

Delivery

Every notification is written to a durable outbox inside the same transaction that opens or resolves the incident, with a deduplication key, so one logical alert is sent once per channel. Deliveries are retried with exponential backoff up to eight times; failures are recorded per attempt. Quiet hours postpone, per-channel hourly limits protect against storms.

A failed notification is not an outage

If a channel is unreachable the incident still exists and other channels still deliver. Delivery history shows what happened.
